Abraham Rhine
1824-1890
Abraham Rhine arrived in New York August 6, 1842, aboard the ship Meta, which sailed from Bremen in June. His brother Henry was on the the same vessel.
By July of 1848 Abe had settled in Lamar County, Texas, where he married a christian woman by the name of Talitha Record. They had one child, a girl named Alice who died at the age of 10.
Talitha C Record was the daughter of James Carroll Record and Nancy R Kennedy. They had a large family who moved to Texas from Tennessee in about 1848.
By the mid-1850s, Abe and his family had moved to McKinney, where he added a successful branch to the Rhine mercantile business in Texas. He died in 1890 and is buried with his wife and daughter in Pecan Grove Cemetery.
